What makes a great Italian restaurant in London? Is it the pasta? The wine? The ingredients? The service? Authenticity? Luce e Limoni offers all of the above.
For us at Luce e Limoni, good Italian cooking starts with the ingredients. We use carefully selected produce, with locally sourced and organic ingredients used wherever possible, and we believe that quality ingredients deserve to be treated with care rather than hidden beneath unnecessary complication.
Then there’s the pasta. At Luce e Limoni, pasta is made in-house by our team using fine durum wheat. That means dishes such as rigatoni with fried aubergines, tomato, basil and salted ricotta, or black linguine with seared scallops and asparagus, start with pasta made in-house rather than simply taken out of a packet!
Bread is made in-house too, and served with Sicilian extra virgin olive oil. It’s a small detail, perhaps, but it says something about our approach: even the things that accompany a meal deserve attention.
A good Italian restaurant also needs variety. Italian food isn’t one single cuisine, and Sicily has its own distinctive traditions. Our menu reflects that with pasta, fish and seafood, meat dishes, vegetables and classic desserts, combining familiar Italian ideas with the flavours of our founder Fabrizio Zafarana’s Sicilian heritage.
Then there’s wine. A good bottle shouldn’t simply sit alongside your food; it should make the meal better. Our list has a particular emphasis on Sicilian wines, alongside selections from other parts of Italy, giving diners plenty of options to explore.
But of course another important ingredient is hospitality. Italian dining is about more than putting a plate on a table. It’s about making people feel welcome, creating an enjoyable atmosphere and giving them a reason to linger.
That’s what we try to do at Luce e Limoni. Great food matters enormously, but so do the details around it: the welcome, the service, the wine, the surroundings and the pleasure of sitting down together.
Put everything together and you have what we think an Italian restaurant in London should be: somewhere you come for the food, but leave remembering the whole experience.
